WHEREAS, Temple Beth-El School is observing its 25th anniversary of service to the children of Volusia and Flagler Counties; and
WHEREAS, Temple Beth-El School began as a dream in 1982 when a committee of congregants, led by Rabbi Barry and Malka Altman saw the need to provide a quality preschool in Ormond Beach; and
WHEREAS; on February 3, 1983, the preschool opened its doors at the Temple's new location at 579 North Nova Road with 16 children and two teachers; and
WHEREAS; throughout the past 25 years, Temple Beth-El School has loved and nurtured thousands of children ages 1-7 in the Volusia County area and has helped the positive development of children of all faiths for over 25 years with love, talented staff, and compassion; and
WHEREAS, the success and excellence of its highly acclaimed program comes from its staff of teachers and specialists who are dynamic, dedicated, and motivated experts in their respective fields; and
WHEREAS, at Temple Beth-El, there is an environment where the pursuit of excellence and the development of character is derived from our spiritual heritage "to lift a child's spirit and self esteem"; and
WHEREAS, the staff and leaders of Temple Beth-El School resolve to continue to serve as the nurturers and teachers of thousands of children in the future, proclaiming in the words of Proverbs 22:66, "Bring up children in the way they should go, and when they are older, they will not depart from it";
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Fred Costello, Mayor of the City of Ormond Beach, do hereby proclaim Monday, February 4, 2008, as
in the City of Ormond Beach and call upon all Ormond Beach residents to join with me on this day in paying tribute to Temple Beth-El for its outstanding contributions which have greatly enhanced the quality of life in our community and its neighboring cities.
